Yes. At Seoul Station, eligible AREX Express passengers can check in for a same-day international flight from Incheon and drop accepted checked baggage before taking the train. Your flight must qualify and you must complete the process before the applicable deadline.
Choose this option if your flight is eligible, your bags can be accepted and you have enough time for the city-terminal process. Otherwise, plan to check in at your airline's Incheon Airport counter.
Who can check in at Seoul Station?
The Seoul Station city airport terminal is for passengers who buy an AREX Express train ticket and fly internationally from Incheon on the same day. It is a flight check-in and baggage-drop service, not just a place to leave a suitcase. An ordinary airport railroad train ticket is not the Express ticket described in the eligibility rule.
An airline serving the terminal does not necessarily mean every one of its flights qualifies. Routes and operating airlines matter, including for a flight sold under a different airline's name. Before buying a train ticket for this purpose, ask your airline about the specific flight and any special baggage. The city terminal's listed inquiry number is 1599-7788; have your flight number and travel date ready.
Look at your booking for both the airline operating the flight and the Incheon departure terminal. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 have different city-terminal deadlines. If the terminal is unclear, resolve that detail before working out when to arrive.
Start with the deadline, not the train departure
Incheon Airport lists check-in and baggage drop at Seoul Station from 05:20 to 19:00. The flight-based deadline can be earlier: complete check-in at least 3 hours before a Terminal 1 departure, or 3 hours and 20 minutes before a Terminal 2 departure. Ask the terminal about its current acceptance cutoff as well; the published closing time is not a safe time to join the queue.
For example, for a 17:00 flight, the flight-based check-in deadline is 14:00 for Terminal 1 or 13:40 for Terminal 2. These are times by which check-in must be completed, not times to join the queue. An earlier acceptance cutoff may apply.
Work backward from the applicable limits and leave room for the queue and any baggage or document questions. Departure immigration at the city terminal operates from 05:30 to 19:00. If you cannot reasonably finish the city-terminal steps in time, use your airline's airport check-in procedure instead.
The Express train is a separate part of the plan. Check its current fare, available departures, seats and payment options with AREX before booking. The cost and a particular connection are not assumed here; make sure the train you choose also leaves enough time for the remaining airport procedures.
What to prepare before leaving for the station
Keep your flight details and travel documents accessible on your way to Seoul Station rather than packing them in the suitcase you intend to check. You will need to identify your flight at the counter, and the airline may need to review your documents. Keep the AREX Express ticket and its QR code available for the terminal entrance.
Consider each bag separately. If you are carrying an instrument, sports equipment or another unusual item, describe it when checking whether your baggage can be accepted. Your airline's baggage allowance and conditions still matter.
For a large or heavy bag, have its dimensions and weight ready when you ask. If it cannot be accepted at the city terminal, allow for carrying it to the airport yourself.
If you have more than one bag, check the requirements for each one. Keep any items you will need during the train ride with you rather than placing them in a bag you expect to surrender.
From the B2 entrance to the Express platform
The city airport terminal is on B2 of the airport railroad station at Seoul Station. At the city-terminal gate, scan the QR code on your AREX Express ticket. This is the entrance to the check-in facility; keep the ticket accessible afterward for the train journey.
At the check-in area, select your airline on the queue kiosk and take a number. Watch the call display and go to the indicated counter when your number is called. Airport Railroad describes this queue system in its August 2026 announcement about improvements to the terminal.
At the Seoul Station counter, complete flight check-in and hand over any accepted checked baggage. Follow the airline staff's instructions if a bag or document needs attention. If you plan to use city-terminal departure immigration, complete that step while it is operating and follow the signs and staff directions.
After Express ticket validation on B2, board the train on B7. Keep your flight documents with you for the rest of the trip. The city terminal handles the earlier steps; you still need to reach the correct departure terminal and follow the airport's signs and staff directions.
At Incheon and when your plan changes
Passengers who have completed both flight check-in and departure immigration at the city terminal can use the dedicated departure lane on the third floor at Incheon Airport. Look for the airport signs and follow staff instructions for the remaining procedures. The lane is an option for qualifying passengers, not a promise that there will be no wait.
If your flight is not accepted at Seoul Station, take your bags to the airline's check-in location at Incheon instead. The airport counter can have a different deadline, so obtain that time directly from your airline rather than reusing the city-terminal cutoff.
If your purpose is to send a bag to an airport collection point rather than check it through for a flight, that is a different service. You would need to collect the delivered bag and follow your airline's airport procedure. For that alternative, see the related luggage delivery article in the links below.
